The Real Steel G3 Puukko is, in my opinion, an excellent blade. Its not perfect, but you can do a lot worse for the money. You get G10 scales that aren't super grippy, but are fine for day to day use, 14C28N steel which is an excellent balanced steel for a budget knife. I love 12C27 for its corrosion resistance and ease of sharpening while not being too soft. The steel on this knife is just a bit better. The knife runs on bearings, and for a budget knife, it's really a treat. It's done well, and the knife flips open with ease and smoothly locks up. Lockup is solid, and the liner lock, while nothing special, works well. I also like that there's only one torx size being used on this knife. It's a bigger knife, and while it isn't particularly heavy (skeletonised liners), it feels solid, and I trust that it will be a dependable tool for a long time. What I really like is that Ostap Hel designed this knife with a traditional puukko in mind, but with a modern twist. Sometimes this leads to something odd and unappealing, but with this knife it works. The geometric cutouts, swedge, and handle cutouts, as well as how the blade falls into the handle when closed, it all works for me. Especially since the ergonomics are great. My hands are medium sized, and I have room to spare while not feeling like I'm wielding a bastard sword. As a nice bonus the box the knife comes in is simple, but nice. nothing tacky or cheap feeling, and as a bonus you get a large cleaning cloth and a folder with some pictures of knife internals and other Real Steel products. What I don't like is really only one thing. The jimping on the liner. The jimping on the flipper tab is perfect, but on the liner it's way too sharp. It eats away at your thumb and thumbnail way too much, and you don't need heavy jimping on the liner anyway. I don't need it at all, but we live in a world of compromises. Having said that, I filed them down a bit with a diamond file, and now it's perfect. Easily done, and it makes this knife a 9/10 for me. Other aspects of the knife are the clip: good. a bit tight for my taste, and right side tip up only. Great for me, so I am not complaining. the shape of the clip is excellent, as it doesn't snag on the pocket like some square clips do, and is quite low profile. Just well done. The blade thickness is quite a lot for an EDC knife in my mind, but because of the swedge it feels like a thinner blade, and the edge is nice and thin so it slices great. Sturdy, yet nimble for its size. I like it a lot. The detent is a little on the weaker side, as others have noted, but I don't mind it. It flips perfectly fine, and does what it should for me. Comparing it to my other flippers it doesn't stand out in a bad way. Overall I recommend this knife for basically anyone who likes a bigger knife. I use it primarily as a work knife, due to its size, but it does well with steak and cardboard as well. Cleaning is a breeze as it's just two screws to take it apart. The knife is a good flipper, good slicer, not fragile, but also not overbuilt like a tank like some others are. It's a great knife, and I feel like it should cost more than it does for what you get.

Vond het mes te licht voor zijn grootte. De ‘bobbel/knik’ op de rug van het heft voelde niet lekker in de hand. Het flipper mechanisme vond ik niet soepel genoeg draaien. Jammer, want uiterlijk een mooi design.
